Rental rules (coverage and deductibles)
Please read this before you book. It covers what's included in the rate, and what you'd pay out of pocket if something happens.
What's included in the rate
- Third-party liability and property damage: Unlimited (no deductible)
- Passenger coverage: ¥50,000,000 per person
What you pay if something happens
These are the amounts you're responsible for if the car is damaged in an accident or breakdown.

Inbound Pack (required, ¥5,500 per calendar day)
Required for every rental on a foreign license (International Driving Permit or Japanese translation). It brings the vehicle deductible and NOC down to zero (towing/recovery cost still applies).
The waiver doesn't apply if the dashcam is switched off, unplugged, covered, or otherwise prevented from recording during the rental. In that case the vehicle deductible and NOC are charged as normal.
Priced per calendar day, not per 24-hour block: the pickup day and the return day both count as a full day.
When the insurance doesn't apply
- An accident not reported to the police
- A false statement about what happened
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
- A breach of the Rental Agreement
The insurance won't apply, and you're responsible for the full cost of the damage.
Cancelling your booking
The cancellation fee rate applies to the amount you paid (the total including any options). Days are counted as calendar days, and it's free up to 23:59 three days before your pickup date.

Cancellation fee = amount paid × the rate for the stage + a 3.6% payment processing fee on the amount paid. Refund = amount paid − cancellation fee, rounded down to the yen.

If we can't hand over the car
- If we cancel for a reason that's our fault (for example a double booking or a maintenance failure on our side), we refund the full amount and pay you a penalty equal to the cancellation fee for that stage (¥0 up to 3 days before, 30% of the amount paid 2 days to 1 day before, 50% of the amount paid on the day).
- If we can't hand over the car for a reason that's not our fault (an accident, theft, a recall, a natural disaster), we refund the full amount with nothing deducted.

Extending your rental and fuel
- An extension needs to be requested in advance and approved by us. The overage fee follows the rate table.
- Return the car with a full tank. Any shortfall is charged at cost.
